Today our guest - Ekaterina Chevelyuk, deputy director of "Dastarkhan" Ltd who attended internship in the United States under the project "Business Connections" under the 4-th direction of the "BRM - 2020".
The "Business Connections" project includes 2 stages of training. First we passed 10 -day training at the International Professional Academy "Turan pros", receiving certificates, we were interviewed with the IESC (International Executive Service Corporation, Washington, DC), and then followed the best of all - a business internship in the U.S.
Small business in the United States is very developed. There are many interesting small projects. During our internship, we visited a very small catering as well as large network, such as Corner Bakery.
In Washington, much of the small food enterprises - are family businesses that are organized, usually in the lower part of the house. The owners themselves work in it or members of his family, there you deserve special attention - you will be happy to be allowed into the holy of holies - the kitchen. In Kokshetau, few employers will allow it. The brightest spot which we visited - was a tavern Martin's. It works since 1933 - its walls saw not one politically important event in U.S. history, here, for example, John F. Kennedy made a proposal of marriage to his wife, Jackie. Staff mostly consists of the elderly. Not every server has the right to speak to a guest - you must have experience and know the menu, to be able to offer and keep the guest. Young waiters should be "promoted" to the honorary title of the waiter. This profession is quite prestigious, and if you love your profession, and you have a talent for it, it is very profitable.
Philadelphia, is a city with a million inhabitants. We visited the old market where everybody can offer their wares, and successfully traded for two or even three generations. The market was formed on the spot of the old train station. It covers an area of more than 2000 square meters. Here you can find everything from deli meats and live lobsters, to bake. Another attraction of the food industry of Philadelphia - is an Italian street market. Once merchants selling their wares on the street - now it is 5 blocks of modern bakeries and cafes, carefully storing their history. In one of these «Termini Bros», there is a museum of kitchen utensils.
The program "Business Connections" allows us, entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan, to see the prospects for further development of small business in our country. It is not necessary to have a huge capital and attract investment from outside. The main thing - to love your profession and live it, to value each customer and improve the quality and level of service. This is the key to success.
