Association of Women with Disabilities "Shyrak", with the participation of Fund "Damu" and with the support of the international organization "Counterpart International", launched the project "Employment of Women with Disabilities: Overcoming Barriers to the development of entrepreneurship". On the same day in Kazakhstan Press Club held a press conference dedicated to this event.
The purpose of this project is to promote employment of women with disabilities by eliminating discriminatory practices and to create equal conditions for the development of their business.
The objectives of the project "Employment of Women with Disabilities" includes:
- Raising public awareness about the problems of women with disabilities in employment;
- Informing themselves of women with disabilities about their rights in employment and entrepreneurship;
- Building a dialogue with various social groups in order to improve policies and procedures in the area of credit, training and promotion of entrepreneurship among women with disabilities.
Noble mission started the project in tune with one of the activities of Fund "Damu". For three years, the foundation is implementing a program of non-financial support of entrepreneurs with disabilities "Damu-Komek". The objective is to create conditions that encourage people with disabilities to start a business, and business training for working disabled entrepreneurs.
According to the Chairwoman of the Board of Fund “Damu” Lyazzat Ibragimova, since 2010 "Damu-Komek" program provided help for 645 entrepreneurs with disabilities, 373 of whom are women who want to start a business.
"Our participation in the project, we see first of all, in terms of enhancing their skills through training and consulting, - said Lyazzat Ibragimova. We are ready to give their full support to the project information, reports on the progress of its implementation on our website, as well as provide a forum for discussions, workshops, conferences on the topic of women's entrepreneurship and participation of women with disabilities".
"This project can mark the beginning of a great work on the institutional changes in the employment of people with disabilities, in particular - women" - shared her hopes Association Chairwoman Lyazzat Kaltaeva.
Responding to questions from journalists, the head of Fund "Damu" also told that in the near future, the Fund intends to involve women with disabilities to work in the corporate call center. They will work dispatchers answer calls to give advice over the phone. "So we want to be an example of a socially responsible policy for other organizations," - said Lyazzat Ibragimova.
In the near future, being a part of the Association of Women with Disabilities, "Shyrak" plans to conduct a sociological study of women with disabilities; publishes a booklet on overcoming negative stereotypes and prejudices, and start to place videos on the rights of women with disabilities to work and employment at the central TV channels. Among the plans is to hold public hearings and their follow-up to make recommendations that will be submitted to the Parliament and the Government.
